XAOC Devices Sarajewo
Sarajewo from XAOC Devices is a syncable analog delay line based around three 4096-stage BBD chips for delay times up to 1560ms. The same clock drives each of the BBD chips, which can be internally generated, tapped in with the tap tempo, or synced to an external clock source. In tap tempo and synced modes, the time knob controls the division or multiplication of that clock speed.
Each delay chip has its own dedicated tap output, labeled t1, t2, and t3, and a mixed output from all three stages. The feedback slider controls the amount of the signal fed back into the delay line. If pushed to its extreme, it will begin to clip and self-oscillate. The slider's LED will turn red to indicate when it starts to clip the BBD chips. By default, the t3 output runs back into the feedback path; placing an external signal in the ext feedback loop input breaks this normalization. This is useful for taking any of the tap outputs and processing it with an external module, such as a filter or waveshaper. Alter the frequency content of the delay line and feedback path using the tone slider that controls a tilt filter. Blend the mix output between the delayed signal from t3 and dry signal using the effect knob and CV input.
Sarajewo captures the lush character of BBD delays, harnessing three of them that create a balance between beautiful or harsh sounding delay lines.
