Polyend Tracker+

Polyend has given their hit sequencer and sampler a much-welcomed refresh with the Tracker+, now offering more tracks, internal synthesis engines, and expanded capabilities with sampling. Like the original model, the Tracker+ is a hardware spin on the classic tracker workflow seen on LSDJ, Renoise, and others. Contrasting with typical step sequencers or piano roll-type arrangements, Tracker+ excels at composing intricate music with a specificity that is hard to find on other platforms. That said, it's a perfect entry-point into this style of making electronic music, thanks to its ease of use compared to legacy trackers and the inspiring synth and sampling engines built into the device.

Tracker+ features 16 tracks—eight more than the previous model. These new tracks are able to be used as MIDI tracks for sequencing external instruments, or make use of the Tracker+'s internal synthesizer engines. ACD, FAT, VAP, and WTFM cover a broad spectrum of classic and cutting-edge synthesizer timbres, and when layered with samples from other tracks, the sky is the sonic limit. Additionally, a new PERC Drum Machine engine covers classic TR-808 and 909-like sounds, while also venturing into modern territories if you'd like.

While sampling returns from the original Polyend Tracker, this new model boasts some welcome updates. Like the Tracker Mini, Tracker+ now supports stereo sampling, and all sampler engines have been enhanced with full stereo support. From typical 1-shot or Reverse playback to slicing, granulation, and even conversion into wavetables, any and all sounds are ripe for sonic picking. You can even incorporate the internal FM radio to capture unexpected sources based on where you are.

Each Tracker+ project boasts 16 tracks, with up to 128 steps within each sequencer. Modify and mangle track parameters across patterns, of which there are 256 available per song, meaning that you can chain and compose with freedom. Patterns can be spiced up with a variety of fill modes, offering algorithms such as Random, Euclidean, Musical Scale quantization, and more. Performance mode also allows you to create FX assignments and tweak parameters in real time.

Of course, it's easy to keep track of what's going on with Tracker+'s beautiful 7" display, and access notes and samples across the 48 multi-purpose pads. Tracker+ has also seen substantial internal updates, offering more internal storage, plus enhanced USB connectivity for easier sample transfer. You can also send 14 stereo audio tracks over USB, making multitrack DAW integration easier than ever.
