The Klark Teknik 2A-KT is an optical compressor/leveling amplifier is perfect for sculpting the dynamic range of your mixes, and is equally suited for studio or live use. The core of the 2A-KT is an optical attenuator based on the legacy of electroluminescent technology found in tube compressors throughout the 1960's and beyond. It features 12AX7, 12BH7, and EL84 tubes that add warmth to the low end, smooth mid-range, and a defined top end. The compressor response has a wide range with a ultra-fast 10ms attack time and release times from 50ms to five seconds.

The frequency response goes from 10Hz to 20kHz with +/-1dB. The limit/compress switch selects between the fixed compression ratio or the almost infinite ratio of the limit mode. The pre-emphasis trimmer adjusts the compressor/sidechain interaction. With the trimmer set all the way clockwise, it responds to the full frequency range of the incoming signals. As it is turned counterclockwise, it begins to respond less to the audio's high frequency transients. The gain limiting goes from 0dB to 30dB and the output gain can be used to bring the signal back to the correct level. Two 2A-KT's can be linked together using the stereo-link connection on the back of the unit.
