Intellijel Designs Passive LPG

The Intellijel LPG 1U is a passive, vactrol-based low pass gate that is a great way to add organic amplification to your setup. A low pass gate combines an amplifier with a slight filtering effect that filters a sound more at lower amplitudes. With an increase in volume the brightness and top end in the sound becomes more present, much in the way naturalistic sounds behave. The device that makes this happen is called a vactrol, which is a light emitting diode and a light dependent resistor in one package. Increasing voltage at the CV input allows more of the input signal to pass through to the output. The vactrol also imparts a slight decay to incoming CV, allowing incoming gate signals to become more dynamic. It's passive, requiring no external power to operate. The LPG is a great addition to your 7U or 4U case, providing an extra VCA with unique character.
