Genelec 8050B
The 8050B is an 8" active two-way speaker in Genelec's professional studio reference monitor line. Its incredibly flat frequency response has made it the go-to tool for countless mix engineers for years, and for good reason. It features a 32Hz to 25kHz frequency response with a 150 watt class AB bass amp and 120 watt class AB treble amp, with a max SPL of 110dB. It includes a number of tone controls for adapting its output to perfectly fit whatever acoustic environment you may find yourself in, such as a Bass Roll-Off control, as well as Bass and Treble Tilt for attenuating frequency response. It also includes a Desktop Low Frequency mode, specifically for curtailing 160Hz, a common buildup area when monitors are placed on mixing desks or other reflective surfaces. The 8050B takes full advantage of Genelec's Active Crossover, meaning low and high frequency spectrums are powered by their own dedicated amplifiers.
The 8050B features a number of quality-of-life features, such as Genelec's DCW (Directivity Control Waveguide) technology, which increases straight-on and off-axis response for wider usable listening area and decreased drive distortion. It also comes with Genelec's ISS (Intelligent Signal Sensing) monitoring, meaning the 8050B will automatically switch into a low-power standby mode until it detects an incoming signal, at which point it will switch over to its regular operating mode. This means you can leave your monitors perpetually on, only consuming 0.5 watts when in standby mode. There's a reason Genelec monitors are trusted by the most successful producers and mix engineers around the world, and the 8050B undoubtably has the size and power to backup that legacy.
