Eventide Knife Drop

The Knife Drop from Eventide is a razor sharp octave fuzz and synth pedal that delivers a triple-bladed assault of flesh ripping fuzz, sizzling synth tones, and selectable octaves to create ghastly growls from any audio source. Developed in collaboration with Third Man Hardware, Knife Drop leverages Eventide's most blood-soaked DSP design with the arcane and aggressive ears of Jack White to provide a penetrating palette of gut wrenching tones across five curated presets. With a wide range of adjustments and configurations to explore, Knife Drop offers a cornucopia of devious tones perfect for instilling horror and suspense in every musical move.

Knife Drop combines your instrument tone with an internal monosynth engine and the selectable octave shifts before reaching the fuzz effect. Control the balance of instrument and synth tone with the Synth mix control, and increase drive with the Drive knob. Past the two o' clock position, the drive introduces voltage sag for added grit. The level control adjusts the output level of the pedal, letting you tame your volume without sacrificing the infernal tone generated by Knife Drop. In the synth engine, a resonant low pass filter is controlled with an ADSR envelope that is triggered by your instrument signal. Controls for the filter are accessed with the upper-right button, and the filter position can be moved between pre and post distortion depending on your needs. Add extra depth for monstrous tones with the octaves, which can be selected between upper octave, upper and lower octave, or completely bypassed.

As expected from Eventide, this raucously synthy saturator is equipped with a refined assortment of convenient connectivity and preset features to bring Knife Drop over the top for live and studio use. In addition to Jack White's handcrafted and hair-raising presets, you can store your own presets across 128 total slots, with the first five directly accessible on the panel and the remainder available via MIDI control. Each parameter can be controlled via MIDI directly as well as with an expression pedal, letting you bend and shape Knife Drop's curiously cutting sound while performing on an instrument. The input can be switched between TRS stereo or mono, as well as adjusted between line and instrument levels, making Knife Drop perfect for synths, drum machines, and more.
