Doepfer A-174-4

The Doepfer A-174-4 is a joystick that provides three dimensions of movement and a gate output, perfect for creating dynamic and expressive control voltages and quadphonic panning. The joystick features the traditional X and Y axes of movement, but adds a rotatable ring on the joystick itself, which controls the Z parameter. The button on the top of the joystick causes the gate output to fire.

A-174-4 offers a standard CV output per axis, plus an inverted and offset output. The overlap switches add a fixed offset voltage and can be used to change the range of voltages from -5V-+5V to 0-10V. Overlap is named as such because there is overlapping between the non-inverted and inverted/offset CV, useful for crossfading. The four quadrant voltages Q1-4 become positive when the joystick is in that quadrant and are perfect for quad panning when paired with four VCAs. Perfect for creating gestural CV signals, this joystick provides hands-on control and a wide range of outputs.
