DivKidDivSkip 4-Channel Trigger + Gate Processor

DivKid DivSkip

DivSkip is a collaboration between DivKid and Making Sound Machines that gives you 4 channels of 8 selectable utilities. Each channel has a dedicated knob, CV, Trigger input and 2 Trigger outputs. Hold the knob down to choose from one of 8 different algorithms and use the switches to change from trigger to gate mode and store muted states for all four channels.

Mode 1 is a Bernoulli Gate that takes an incoming signal and routes it to one of the two channels based on a coin flip algorithm; the knob stacks the odds in one or the other's favor. Mode 2 is a dual clock divider with the knob adjusting how much to divide for each channel: at 12 o'clock outputs A and B are /8—move it towards A or B to shrink that number while engorging the side you move away from. Mode 3 is a Turing algorithm which generates random patterns based on the input with CW past noon introducing more randomness and CCW pre-noon locking in certain sequences—the segmented lights show outputs A dimly lit and Output B unlit.

Modes 4 and 5 are flavors of Euclidean patterns. Mode 4 splits a fixed 3 step Euclidean pattern to Outputs A and B with the pattern length based on knob position. Mode 5 is similar, however Output B is an inverse of Output A; the knob sweeps through fixed Euclidean patterns with a minimum length of 4 and a maximum of 16.

Modes 6 and 7 give you different trigger and gate manipulation options. Mode 6 is a a Ramp/Gate Length mode that, with a trigger, spits out a sequence of triggers from A and B of increasing or decreasing speed based on the knob position—in Gate mode, Output A outputs a gate then switches to Output B after some time, based on the knob position. Mode 7 functions the same when in Gate mode, but with trigger mode, a burst of triggers is output on Output A or B based on the knob position: e.g. towards A you get less triggers on A, more on B, and vice versa. Mode 8 is a pattern generator that offers up rhythmic variations that are perfect for creating percussion patterns on the fly.

This is an incredibly deep module that offers up a variety of exceptional trigger and gate manipulation options, with the inputs all being normalled going to the right—making it easy to derive complex rhythms from simple sources.
